MS Office integration with ERP systems

Background

The Client is a mid-sized manufacturing company that uses an ERP system to manage its daily operations. The ERP system handles everything from purchasing raw materials to shipping finished products. However, the reports and outputs from the ERP system are not compatible with Microsoft Office, which is what most of its employees use. As a result, employees had to spend hours manually entering data from the ERP system into Microsoft Excel or Word — an error-prone, time-consuming process.

Challenges

The Client identified the need to integrate its ERP system with Microsoft Office to improve employee productivity and reduce the risk of errors. The company faced several challenges in getting there, though. First, the ERP system was heavily customized, which made integration with other systems difficult. Results

The Client partnered with Suris Code, which specializes — among other things — in integrating ERP systems with Microsoft Office. We built a tool that automatically and transparently integrated the ERP system outputs with Microsoft Office. The tool was highly customizable, which let the Client tailor the integration to their specific needs. The integration was also secure and met the company’s data privacy and compliance requirements.

After the integration went live, the Client’s employees saw a significant improvement in productivity. They no longer had to spend hours manually entering ERP data into Microsoft Office. Instead, they could simply open the ERP reports and outputs in Excel or Word and the data was imported automatically. That saved time and reduced the risk of errors.
